The Flyers are very happy to have Jeff Haynie returning for his 4th year as Head Coach. Jeff is an experienced NVSL coach and has extensive USS, high school, and other summer league coaching experience. In addition to being Head Coach for NVSL team Herndon Rec, he was Head Coach for The Herndon Swim League at Four Seasons Swim Club. From 2000-2004, Jeff was the head swim and dive coach for Herndon High School. He was head age group coach for Herndon Aquatic Club for 5 years and Machine Aquatics for 3 years. His personal swimming experience includes swimming for NVSL’s Hiddenbrook, Bishop O’Connell, Herndon High School (for which he was captain) and West Chester University.
Primary Assistant Coach Wes Noyes
Wes returns to us this summer for his 3rd year as a Flyers Coach. We are excited that he is taking on the new challenge of the primary assistant coach. Having been an NVSL swimmer since age 4, Wes has gained a firm grasp on developing swimming skills and building a strong team atmosphere. This summer he will be working with the whole team to bring a lot of energy to the pool. Wes is currently a student at James Madison University and is hoping to join the Peace Corps after graduating in 2010.
Assistant Coach Robbie Munch
A Flyer since 1998 Robbie is a June 2009 Robinson graduate. He participated on the swim & dive team all four years and has qualified for the state team since his sophomore year. A member of Machine Aquatic’s National team, he will attend University of North Carolina – Wilmington this fall and swim for the Seahawks. Robbie will be working with our younger Flyers.
Assistant Coach Tammy McGraw
Tammy will rejoin the Flyers coaching staff this summer. Tammy is a Flyer parent with years of coaching experience for USS teams. Tammy will coach the stroke clinics and will be on deck at meets to help Jeff as needed.
Mini Team Coaching Staff
Jackie Orsa is the lead Mini Team Coach for 2009. She is a graduating senior at Paul VI, where she was a member of the swim team. She will be attending Radford in the fall, majoring in interior design. Jackie has been a Flyer since she was seven years old.
Maggie McGraw and Kaylyn Gallagher will be our Assistant Mini Team Coaches this year. Maggie is a rising senior and Kaylyn is a rising junior at Woodson High School, where they are both members of the swim team. Maggie has been a Flyer for 6 years and swims year-round for Curl-Burke. A Flyer since she was 7, Kaylyn swims year-round for Machine Aquatics. Following multiple years as volunteer coaches, Maggie and Kaylyn are now looking forward to being Assistant Mini Team Coaches.
